Our take on the Citizen Mickey Shadow Watch

The Citizen Mickey Shadow is a dress watch with a Mickey Mouse dial, built on Citizen's light-powered Eco-Drive movement. It has a stainless steel round case, a leather strap with buckle, a date window and a small sub-seconds hand. It never needs a battery and is rated WR50, enough for still-water swimming. At $238.50 at eBay as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of what the two new listings ask.

Questions and answers

Is the Mickey Shadow worth it over a plain Eco-Drive dress watch?
You pay for the Mickey dial and the Eco-Drive movement. If you want a character watch that never needs a battery, it makes sense. If you want a neutral dress watch, a plain Citizen costs less.
Does it really never need a battery?
Correct. Eco-Drive charges from any light source through the dial, so there is no battery to replace. Keep it out of a drawer for long stretches and it keeps running.
Can I swim with it?
It is rated WR50, which covers still-water swimming and handwashing. It is not rated for diving or high-pressure water, and the listing marks it as not waterproof.
Can I put a different strap on it?
No. The band is listed as not interchangeable, so plan on the leather strap it ships with.
What crystal does it use?
A spherical mineral crystal. It resists impacts and shattering but is softer than sapphire, so it can pick up scratches over time.
When is the price lowest?
Only two stores list it new, so there is little discounting. The $238.50 at eBay as of November 5, 2026 is the best new price seen; watch for seasonal sales at the other store.
Where is the Citizen Mickey Shadow Watch cheapest?
