Is the 6-pack worth it over buying single shelves?

If you are shelving several closets or a long garage wall, the 6-pack saves repeat shipping and ordering. For one closet, a single shelf is cheaper and easier to handle.

What hardware do I need to install it?

You need wall brackets, a hanging rod and rod brackets if you want hanging space, plus screws and anchors for your wall type. None of that is in the box.

How much weight can it hold?

ClosetMaid rates this shelf for light to moderate loads when brackets are spaced properly. Keep heavy boxes near the brackets and add a support every 24 to 32 inches on long runs.

Can I cut it to fit a shorter wall?

Yes, the steel can be cut with a hacksaw, but the cut end exposes bare metal. Seal it with white paint or a vinyl end cap to prevent rust.

Does it work for hanging clothes?

The shelf itself does not hold a rod. Add a rod bracket under the shelf to create hanging space, which is the standard shelf-and-rod closet setup.

When is the price lowest?

With only one new listing at $165.53 on eBay as of November 4, 2026, there is no recent range to time. Watch for closet-organization sales in January and back-to-school season.

Our take on the ClosetMaid 136300 Wardrobe Shelf, 16 in. x 72 in., White (6-Pack)

The ClosetMaid 136300 is a 16-inch-deep, 72-inch-long ventilated steel shelf with a white vinyl coating, sold here as a 6-pack. It is a surface-mount shelf for closets, meant to hold folded clothes and boxes and to carry a hanging rod underneath. The 6-pack suits a whole-house closet project or a garage wall run. The best new price is $165.53 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no meaningful price history to compare against.
