Is this puffer warm enough for real winter?

Yes for most winter days. It has 100% down fill and a quilted shell, but the waist length leaves your hips and legs to other layers.

Can I machine wash a down coat?

The care instructions say machine wash. Use a gentle cycle with down-safe detergent, then tumble dry low with dryer balls to restore loft.

Does it have a hood or zipper?

No hood is listed, and it closes with buttons rather than a zipper. Plan a hat and scarf for windy days.

It is a regular-fit, waist-length style. The quilting adds some bulk, so size for the layers you plan to wear underneath.

When is the best time to buy it?

Down puffers usually drop after the winter peak, in January and February. Check the price history on this page before buying.
