Our take on the Cocobear Mini Projector 360 Rotating Portable Projector

The Cocobear Mini Projector is a palm-sized LCD projector with a 360-degree rotating base, so you can aim it at a wall or straight up at the ceiling. It has native 720p resolution, automatic keystone correction, a 50% zoom and HDMI, USB, AV and 3.5mm inputs. Cocobear rates brightness at 5500 lm, but that figure is a marketing number, not a measured ANSI lumen output; expect a dim, small image in a dark room. Its 3.3 out of 5 from 63 ratings at Walmart points to a mixed reception. No current price was provided, so check the live comparison before buying.

Pros
  • 360-degree rotating base projects onto ceilings and walls
  • Automatic keystone correction simplifies setup
  • Native 720p resolution for a small, sharp-ish image
  • Palm-sized at about 317g and easy to move
  • HDMI, USB, AV and 3.5mm inputs cover most sources

Cons
  • 5500 lm is a marketing figure; real output is dim and needs a dark room
  • Native 720p only, no 1080p
  • Rated lamp life of just 6 hours is unusually short
  • LCD panel and small lens mean soft corners and low contrast
  • No built-in battery listed, so it needs power on the go

Questions and answers

Is the Cocobear Mini Projector worth it?
It is a cheap way to get a big image on a ceiling or wall in a dark room. If you want a bright, sharp picture for daytime viewing, a 1080p projector costs more but performs far better.
How bright is it really?
The 5500 lm figure is not a measured ANSI lumen rating. Expect a usable image only in a dark room, and a smaller image will look brighter than a 100-inch one.
Can it project onto the ceiling?
Yes. The 360-degree rotating base lets you tilt the lens straight up, and automatic keystone correction squares the image.
Does it work with an iPhone?
Cocobear says iOS devices work via cable. You will need the right adapter, and some apps block wired mirroring.
What is in the box?
Expect the projector, a power adapter, an HDMI cable and a remote. Confirm the bundle with the seller, since contents vary by listing.
When is it cheapest?
Mini projectors like this usually drop around Black Friday and back-to-school sales. Check the price history before buying.
