Is the Moritza Shield waterproof?

No. The Omni-Shield coating repels rain and stains, but the boot is not a sealed waterproof rubber boot. It handles wet sidewalks and light slush, not standing water.

Is it warm enough for winter?

It has no insulation rating, so it is best for cold, dry days or mild wet weather. For freezing temperatures or long time outdoors, pair it with warm socks or choose an insulated boot.

Columbia lists a regular fit. The duck-boot construction runs roomy in the toe, so most shoppers take their usual size, and those between sizes may size down.

How much does it weigh?

About 12.3 oz (348.7 g) per shoe in a women's size 7. That is light for a duck boot and helps on long walks.

What is the shaft height?

The ankle shaft is 6 inches, so it covers the ankle but not the lower calf. Deep snow can get in over the top.

Our take on the Columbia Women's Moritza Shield

The Columbia Moritza Shield is a women's ankle-height duck boot with a coated leather and textile upper treated with Omni-Shield to repel moisture and stains. A Techlite midsole adds cushioning and a non-marking Omni-Grip rubber outsole handles wet pavement and light snow. Each shoe weighs about 12.3 oz in a women's size 7, so it is light for a winter boot. The best new price is $85.20 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, with two stores listing it new.
