Is 9,500 BTU enough for a patio?

It warms a small zone around the table, roughly a few feet in each direction. For a large patio or cold nights below about 40°F, a full-size 40,000+ BTU patio heater is a better fit.

What size propane tank does it use?

It runs on a standard propane tank, typically a 20 lb grill tank, connected by hose. The tank is not included and usually sits beside or under the table.

Can I use it indoors or in a garage?

No. It is an outdoor propane heater, and burning propane indoors risks carbon monoxide buildup.

Does it have a thermostat?

No. Heat is set with a manual knob, and the unit has tip-over shut-off but no overheat protection.

Is it cheaper in winter or summer?

Patio heaters usually drop in price at the end of the heating season and rise in late fall. Watch the price history for a dip outside peak demand.

Our take on the Costway 9500 BTU Portable Patio Tabletop Heater

The Costway 9500 BTU Portable Patio Tabletop Heater is a small propane radiant heater meant to sit on a patio table and warm the people around it. It puts out 9,500 BTU per hour in a 360-degree pattern and runs on a standard propane tank, with a stainless steel body and a manual control knob. It has tip-over shut-off but no thermostat and no overheat protection. It suits spot warming on a balcony or small patio, not heating a whole outdoor room.
