Is the Crane Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier worth it?

At $25.99 at eBay as of November 3, 2026, it is a low-risk buy for a bedroom or small living room. You give up a humidistat and fine output control, but you get long runtime, quiet operation and automatic shutoff.

How long does the tank last?

Crane rates it for over 24 hours per fill on the low setting in a large room. On high, expect roughly half that.

Does it work in a large room?

It is rated for up to 500 square feet, which covers a bedroom or a medium living room. In open-plan spaces or rooms above that size, expect it to struggle.

Do I need distilled water?

Yes, distilled or filtered water is strongly recommended. Tap water leaves white mineral dust on furniture and builds scale inside the tank and transducer.

Does it have a humidistat or auto mode?

No. It has two manual speeds and a timer, but no humidistat, so it will keep misting until you turn it off or the tank empties.

Budget humidifiers like this one tend to drop in price in late fall and around Black Friday, when demand peaks. The $25.99 eBay price as of November 3, 2026 is already near the bottom of its range.
