Our take on the Crawl Space Recessed Foundation Vent Cover - Fits 8" H x 16" W Openings - Durable and Efficient Sealing Solution (Black)

A plastic recessed cover that fits 8-inch by 16-inch foundation vent openings and seals a crawl space vent from the outside. It has a 1-1/4 inch inside depth and a 17.25-inch face, so it sits flush over the block opening rather than protruding. It is a fixed, non-opening piece, so it blocks airflow rather than regulating it. The best new price is $29.99 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no meaningful price history to compare against.

Cons
  • Non-opening, so it cannot be reopened for summer ventilation
  • Fasteners and adhesive are not included

Questions and answers

Will it fit an 8x16 inch foundation opening?
Yes. It is sized for 8-inch high by 16-inch wide openings, with a 17.25-inch face that overlaps the block edge. The inside depth is 1-1/4 inches, so check that your block wall is at least that deep.
Does it let air through?
No. It is a solid, non-opening cover that seals the vent. That suits winterizing or a conditioned crawl space, but you would need to remove it to ventilate in warm months.
What hardware do I need to install it?
Fasteners and adhesive are not included. Plan on exterior-grade screws or construction adhesive suited to masonry, depending on whether you want it removable.
Is it worth $29.99?
That is the only new price listed, $29.99 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, so there is no lower benchmark to shop against. Compare it to a generic vent plug if you only need one or two covers.
Black or white?
Both colors are offered. Pick white for a painted foundation and black for bare block or a darker wall, since the face is visible from outside.
Where is the Crawl Space Recessed Foundation Vent Cover - Fits 8" H x 16" W Openings - Durable and Efficient Sealing Solution (Black) cheapest?
At Amazon, for $29.99, as of our latest check.
