Is the Maker 3 worth it over the Explore 3?

Yes if you cut fabric, leather or thick materials, since the Maker 3 handles far more materials and has a rotary blade. For vinyl and cardstock only, the Explore 3 costs less and does the same job.

What is in the Essentials Bundle?

The bundle pairs the Maker 3 with a starter set of tools and materials. Check the listing for the exact items, since bundle contents vary by retailer.

Do I need a Cricut Access subscription?

No. You can upload your own designs and use free images. A subscription unlocks extra fonts and images and gives discounts on materials.

What can the Maker 3 cut?

Over 300 materials, including vinyl, cardstock, fabric, leather, balsa and matboard. Thick materials need the appropriate blade and mat.

Does it work with a phone or tablet?

Yes. Design Space runs on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android, and the machine connects over Bluetooth. A computer is easier for complex designs.

When is the best time to buy?

Cricut discounts bundles around Black Friday, back-to-school and major sales. Compare the bundle price with the bare machine plus separate tools.

Our take on the Cricut Maker 3 + Essentials Bundle

The Cricut Maker 3 is Cricut's top cutting machine, and this bundle pairs it with the essential tools and materials most new owners need. It cuts over 300 materials, from vinyl and cardstock to fabric and leather, and its 13-inch width handles wider projects than the Joy or Explore. The bundle adds value over buying the machine alone, so compare the bundle price against the bare Maker 3 before deciding.
