Our take on the Ctronics 2K 3MP Wireless Solar Security Camera with wifi and 4x digital zoom

The Ctronics 2K 3MP Wireless Solar Security Camera is a wire-free outdoor pan/tilt camera that runs on a built-in 7800mAh battery topped up by a separate solar panel. It records 3MP (2K) video, pans 355° and tilts 95°, and adds color night vision with two spotlights and two IR LEDs rated to 82ft. PIR human detection cuts false alerts and pushes app notifications in about 0.2 seconds. It stores to a microSD card and works through the Ctronics Pro app on iOS and Android.

Questions and answers

Is the Ctronics solar camera worth it?
It fits if you need an outdoor camera where running power is hard and the mount gets sun. You get pan/tilt, 2K video and local SD storage without a subscription. In heavy shade or long cloudy stretches, expect to recharge the battery manually.
How long does the battery last on solar?
Ctronics rates the battery at 7800mAh with the solar panel providing continuous top-up. Real runtime depends on sunlight and how many motion events trigger recording; busy driveways in winter may need a manual recharge.
Does it need Wi-Fi or a hub?
It connects over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and needs no hub. There is no Ethernet port, so it must be within range of your router.
What is included in the box?
You get the camera with its built-in 7800mAh lithium-ion battery and a separate solar panel mount. A microSD card is not listed, so buy one separately if you want local recording.
Can I zoom in clearly?
Zoom is 4x digital, not optical, so the image softens as you zoom. The 355° pan and 95° tilt let you move the lens closer to the subject instead.
When is it cheapest?
No current price or price history is available for this model, so there is no reliable seasonal low to point to. Compare the live price across stores before buying.
