Is this coffeemaker worth it over a basic drip machine?

Yes if you want a programmable timer, a water filter and auto shutoff in one unit. A plain drip machine costs less but usually drops the filter and the timer.

How many cups does it actually brew?

It is rated at 12 five-ounce cups, the standard coffee-cup measure. That is about 60 ounces, or roughly six 10-ounce mugs.

Does it need a paper filter?

It uses a basket-style paper filter plus the separate charcoal water filter in the reservoir. Check which filter size the model takes before buying refills.

Can I set it the night before?

Yes. The programmable timer lets you set a brew time, and auto shutoff turns the warming plate off afterward.

When is the price lowest?

Programmable drip brewers like this one tend to dip during holiday sales and back-to-school promotions. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.

Our take on the Cuisinart 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker

The Cuisinart 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker is a drip brewer with a stainless steel finish, a built-in water filter and a programmable timer so coffee is ready when you wake up. It also has auto shutoff, a feature many budget brewers skip. It suits households that want a full pot on a schedule rather than single-serve pods.
