D'Addario NYXL4095 Super Light Electric Bass Strings

The D'Addario NYXL4095 is a 4-string electric bass string set in super light gauge (.040–.095), designed for long scale basses. If you've been playing standard bass strings and want something with a noticeably lighter feel without losing low-end body, this set is worth a look.

The construction centers on D'Addario's proprietary NY Steel hex core — a high-carbon steel wire drawn in-house at their Farmingdale, New York facility. That core is wrapped with reformulated nickel-plated steel using re-engineered core-to-wrap ratios, which gives these strings increased magnetic output and a vibrant midrange character. The super light gauge (.040, .060, .075, .095) makes for easier playing and more flexibility than heavier sets, and the long-scale winding fits basses with a string scale length of up to 36.25 inches.

Tonally, the NYXL construction leans bright and articulate — good for cutting through a mix whether you're playing fingerstyle, slapping, or digging in hard with a pick. Tuning stability is a standout quality here, thanks to the NY Steel core and D'Addario's Fusion Twist technology on the plain strings.
