Our take on the Decathlon Forclaz Trek 100 23°F Down Packable Puffer Backpacking Jacket Men's

The Forclaz Trek 100 is Decathlon's budget down puffer for cold-weather hiking, rated for comfort down to about 23°F. It packs into its own pocket, has a hood, and uses a polyester shell over a down fill. At $60 at decathlon.com as of November 7, 2026, it sits at the low end of its usual range, so this is a fair time to buy.

Pros
  • Down fill with a 23°F comfort rating for real winter use

  • Low price for a down jacket
Cons
  • Only one store lists it, so price competition is limited
  • Polyester shell is not very breathable during hard effort
  • Down loses warmth when wet without a waterproof shell
  • Regular fit runs boxy for some wearers

Questions and answers

Is the Trek 100 warm enough for freezing weather?
It is rated for comfort to about 23°F, which suits cold hikes with a base layer. Below that, add a midlayer or a warmer jacket.
Does it pack into its own pocket?

Can I machine wash it?
Yes, it is machine washable. Use a down-specific detergent and tumble dry low with dryer balls to restore loft.
How does it compare with the Trek 500?
The Trek 500 uses a higher fill power and a more technical shell for colder, wetter trips. The Trek 100 is lighter on features and cheaper.
Is $60 a good price?
At $60 at decathlon.com as of November 7, 2026, it is at the low end of its recent range. Down jackets at this warmth level usually cost more.
