Our take on the Defender AI Powered 4K Everwatch PTZ 360° Wi-Fi Plug-in Power Security Camera

The Defender AI Powered 4K Everwatch PTZ is an outdoor plug-in Wi-Fi camera with a motorized pan-and-tilt head for 360° coverage, 4K recording at 15 fps, and AI detection for people, vehicles and animals. It records to a microSD card and runs through the Defender Empower app, with no voice assistant support and no Ethernet port. Its only recorded price is $39.99, dated October 28, 2026, so there is no earlier range to compare against. At that price it is a cheap way to get 4K and PTZ, but the 15 fps frame rate and plug-in power limit how it performs.

Questions and answers

Is the Defender Everwatch PTZ worth it?
At $39.99 as of October 28, 2026, it is a low-cost way to get 4K and pan-tilt in one outdoor camera. Expect basic app controls and 15 fps video rather than premium performance.
Does it need a subscription?
No. It records to a microSD card, so local storage works without a plan. Cloud options, if offered in the Empower app, are separate.
What frame rate does it record?
4K at 15 fps. That is fine for slow scenes but fast movement such as running pets or passing cars will look choppy.
Does it work with Alexa or Google Assistant?
No. The listing shows no voice control support, so you watch and control it through the Defender Empower app.
Can it run on battery or without Wi-Fi?
No. It is plug-in power only and connects over Wi-Fi; there is no battery mode and no cellular or Ethernet connection.
What is in the box?
Expect the camera, a mounting bracket and a power adapter. A microSD card is not confirmed as included, so plan to buy one.
