Our take on the Defiant MaxDetect 240° Motion Sensing 2-Head LED Security Flood Light 2000 Lumens

The Defiant MaxDetect is a two-head LED security flood light rated at 2,000 lumens with a 240-degree motion detection zone. The wide detection arc covers more of a yard or driveway than the 180-degree sensors on most budget floods, and the dual heads let you aim light at two separate areas. It is a hardwired fixture, so it needs an existing junction box and standard house wiring. No current price was provided, so check the latest price against its recent range before buying.

  • Two adjustable heads aim light at separate zones
  • 2,000 lumens is bright for a residential flood light

  • Simple hardwired install for anyone with an existing fixture
Cons
  • Hardwired only, so no plug-in or battery option
  • No smart-home app, Wi-Fi or voice control

Questions and answers

Is the Defiant MaxDetect worth it?
It is a reasonable budget pick if you want wide motion coverage and bright light without smart features. Compare its current price with similar 2,000-lumen two-head floods before deciding.
How does it compare with a 180-degree flood light?
The 240-degree sensor sees further around corners and side approaches, which suits driveways and corner lots. A 180-degree unit is fine for a straight-on walkway.
Does it need special wiring?
Yes. It is hardwired and mounts to a standard outdoor junction box, so it replaces an existing fixture rather than plugging in. Hire an electrician if you do not have a box in place.
Can I control it from my phone?
No. This model has no Wi-Fi, app or voice control. It runs on its motion sensor and a manual switch only.
What is in the box?
The fixture with two LED heads, mounting hardware and instructions. Bulbs are built in and not replaceable.
When is it cheapest?
Security lighting tends to drop around fall and holiday sales. Check the price history on this page to see whether the current price is near its low.
Where can I buy the Defiant MaxDetect 240° Motion Sensing 2-Head LED Security Flood Light 2000 Lumens?
