Our take on the Dell 3-Prong AC Adapter 331-7957

The Dell 331-7957 is a 180W external AC power adapter with a built-in 1.83 m AC cable and a UL-listed housing. It is the higher-wattage brick Dell ships with some Latitude and Inspiron models, so it can charge and run laptops that a 65W or 90W adapter cannot keep up with. At $19.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, well below what Dell-branded 180W adapters usually cost.

Best forOwners of Dell Latitude E7440 or E7240 needing a spare or replacement brickInspiron 15 7558 users who want full charging speedBuyers who want an OEM Dell adapter rather than a third-party oneKeeping one adapter at home and one in a bag
Pros
  • 180W output handles power-hungry laptops and fast charging
  • Genuine Dell part with UL listing
  • Built-in 1.83 m AC cable, no separate cord to lose
  • Compact for its wattage at about 1.9 lb
  • Cheap at $19.99 from eBay as of November 4, 2026
Cons
  • Bulky brick compared with 65W travel adapters
  • Only two stores list it new, so stock is thin
  • No USB-C; it uses Dell's barrel connector
  • No DC cable length or tip size stated in the listing

Questions and answers

Is the Dell 331-7957 worth it at $19.99?
Yes if you need a genuine 180W Dell brick for a compatible Latitude or Inspiron. That is a low price for an OEM adapter of this wattage, though check the connector tip before buying.
Which laptops does this adapter fit?
Dell lists the Latitude E7440 and E7240 and the Inspiron 15 7558. Match the barrel tip and wattage to your model, since Dell uses several connector sizes across its range.
Can I use a 180W adapter on a laptop that shipped with 65W?
A higher-wattage Dell adapter generally works and charges faster, but confirm the plug fits. Do not go the other way: a 65W adapter on a laptop that needs 180W will charge slowly or not keep up.
What is in the box?
The adapter with its attached 1.83 m AC cable. No separate power cord or carrying case is included.
When is it cheapest?
Third-party listings like the $19.99 eBay price as of November 4, 2026 tend to undercut Dell direct. Prices on refurbished and open-box adapters move around, so compare both stores before buying.
Where is the Dell 3-Prong AC Adapter 331-7957 cheapest?
At Fishpond.com, for $76.05, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Dell 3-Prong AC Adapter 331-7957?
11 stores we checked sell it, including Fishpond.com, Tecisoft, Beach Audio, eBay, Walmart.
