Our take on the Dell Pro Micro Desktop Intel Ultra 7 64GB DDR5 2TB SSD

The Dell Pro Micro is a tiny business desktop: a 1.2-liter-class Micro Form Factor chassis with an Intel Core Ultra 7, 64GB of DDR5 memory and a 2TB NVMe SSD, running Windows 11 Pro. It stands out for fitting full desktop-class memory and storage into a case you can hide behind a monitor, with Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 and a wired Gigabit Ethernet port. There is no discrete GPU, so it is an office and multitasking machine, not a gaming or workstation box. It is a niche, high-memory configuration, so its price moves less than mainstream desktops; check the current listing against its recent range before buying.

Questions and answers

Is the Dell Pro Micro good for gaming?
No. It uses Intel integrated graphics, so it handles light and older titles at low settings but not modern games. For gaming, buy a desktop with a discrete GPU.
Can I upgrade the RAM or storage later?
The 2TB SSD sits in an M.2 slot and can be swapped or expanded. The 64GB of DDR5 is already at the typical maximum for this platform, so plan on the memory you buy.
Does it come with a monitor?
No. The monitor is not included; you connect one via DisplayPort 1.4a or HDMI 2.1. A wired keyboard and mouse are included.
How does it compare with a regular desktop tower?
It is far smaller and quieter and uses less power, but it has no room for a full-size graphics card and fewer expansion slots. Choose it for office work, not for upgrades.
Is 64GB of RAM overkill?
For web browsing and Office, yes; 16GB to 32GB is enough. The 64GB pays off with virtual machines, large spreadsheets, big photo or video batches, or many apps open at once.
When is the best time to buy it?
Business desktops like this see the deepest discounts during back-to-school and end-of-year sales and when a new generation launches. Compare the current price with its recent range before ordering.
