Is the DWS779 worth it over the DWS780?

The DWS780 adds the XPS LED cut line, which casts a shadow of the blade on the work. The DWS779 skips that and costs less. If you cut to a pencil line often, the 780 is easier; otherwise the 779 cuts the same.

Does it come with a blade?

Yes. The box includes a 12-inch carbide-tipped blade, blade wrench, dust bag and vertical material clamp. Some listings word it ambiguously, so confirm before ordering.

How much crosscut capacity does the slide add?

The sliding rails let the saw crosscut wider boards than a non-sliding 12-inch saw, which is what makes it useful for shelving and wide trim. Base and crown molding up to the tall fences' height fit against the fence.

Can it cut bevels in both directions?

Yes. It is a double-bevel saw, so it bevels left and right without flipping the material. That helps on compound cuts for crown molding.

What stand fits this saw?

It mounts to DeWalt's miter saw stands, and owners report it is easy to mount and stable once attached. The saw is heavy enough that a stand is worth having if you move it between jobs.

Our take on the DeWalt 12-in. Double-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw

The DeWalt DWS779 is a 12-inch double-bevel sliding compound miter saw with a 15 Amp motor that spins up to 3,800 RPM. It cuts bevels left and right without flipping the workpiece, and its sliding rails add crosscut capacity for wide boards and trim. Tall sliding fences support crown and base molding, and a stainless-steel detent plate holds common angles for repeat cuts. The best new price is $439 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, with three stores listing it new.
