Our take on the DeWalt 20V MAX XR 5.0Ah Battery Pack 9-Pack

This is a DeWalt 20V MAX XR lithium-ion battery pack rated at 5.0Ah, sold here as a 9-pack. The XR line is DeWalt's higher-capacity tier, so each pack runs longer than the standard 2.0Ah or 3.0Ah batteries and carries a built-in fuel gauge. A 9-pack is aimed at crews and heavy users who keep many tools in rotation rather than at a single DIYer.

Questions and answers

Is the 5.0Ah pack worth it over the 2.0Ah?
Yes for saws, grinders and other high-draw tools, where the extra capacity roughly doubles runtime. For light drilling the smaller pack is lighter and cheaper.
Does it fit all DeWalt 20V MAX tools?
Yes. It works with any DeWalt 20V MAX tool and charger, and it also fits the 60V MAX tools that accept 20V packs.
Are chargers included in the 9-pack?
No. This listing is batteries only, so you need a DeWalt 20V MAX charger, which most owners already have from a kit.
How much does each battery weigh?
About 2.8 lb per pack, which is heavier than a 2.0Ah pack and noticeable on a drill used overhead.
When is the best time to buy?
Bulk battery packs usually drop during DeWalt's seasonal promotions and around major holiday sales. Check the price history before buying.
What do buyers say about the DeWalt 20V MAX XR 5.0Ah Battery Pack 9-Pack?
