Our take on the DeWalt 60V 17" Attachment Capable String Trimmer

The DeWalt 60V 17-inch string trimmer is a cordless, brushless straight-shaft trimmer built on DeWalt's 60V MAX battery platform. Its split shaft accepts DeWalt attachment heads, so one power unit can run a trimmer, edger, brush cutter or pole saw. It ships with a 3.0 Ah battery and charger, which adds real value if you are not already on the platform. At $349 at Home Depot as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range, so it is not a bargain moment.

Questions and answers

Is the DeWalt 60V trimmer worth $349?
It is worth it if you already own DeWalt 60V batteries or plan to use the attachment system. At $349 at Home Depot as of November 4, 2026, it is at the top of its recent range, so waiting for a sale is reasonable if you are not in a hurry.
What attachments fit this trimmer?
The split shaft takes DeWalt 60V attachment heads, including edger, brush cutter, pole saw and hedge trimmer heads sold separately. The trimmer head itself is included.
How long does the included battery last?
The 3.0 Ah 60V pack typically runs 30 to 45 minutes of mixed trimming, less in heavy grass at full trigger. A spare battery is the practical fix for large lots.
How does it compare to the 20V DeWalt trimmer?
The 60V model has more torque and a wider 17-inch cut, and it accepts attachments. The 20V version is lighter and cheaper but weaker in thick growth and not attachment capable.
Does it come with a battery and charger?
Yes. The kit includes one 3.0 Ah 60V lithium-ion battery and a charger, plus the trimmer and its quick-load spool.
What line size does it take?
It ships with 0.080-inch line on a quick-load spool. Many owners run 0.095-inch line for fewer breakages in heavy weeds.
Where is the DeWalt 60V 17" Attachment Capable String Trimmer cheapest?
At Home Depot, for $349.00, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the DeWalt 60V 17" Attachment Capable String Trimmer?
