Our take on the DeWalt DCK294P2 20V MAX XR Hammerdrill and Reciprocating Saw Combo Kit

The DeWalt DCK294P2 bundles a 20V MAX XR brushless hammer drill and a brushless reciprocating saw with two XR Li-ion batteries and a charger. Both tools share the 20V MAX battery platform, so the packs work across DeWalt's cordless lineup. The kit is aimed at contractors and serious DIYers who want one battery system for drilling masonry and cutting pipe or lumber. It is a two-tool kit; the bonus third tool some listings mention is not included.

Pros
  • Brushless motors on both tools for longer runtime and less maintenance
  • Two XR Li-ion batteries and a charger included, so both tools run out of the box
  • Hammer mode handles masonry and concrete anchors, not just wood and metal
  • Reciprocating saw does flush cuts, useful for pipe and embedded nails
  • Shares the 20V MAX battery with DeWalt's wider tool lineup
Cons
  • Only two tools; the advertised bonus tool is not part of the kit
  • No hard case in the listed contents, just the charger and batteries
  • Reciprocating saw is a full-size body, heavier for overhead work
  • Hammer drill is heavier than a compact drill-only kit
  • Batteries and charger add cost if you already own DeWalt packs

Questions and answers

Is the DeWalt DCK294P2 worth it over buying the tools separately?
For most buyers, yes. The kit bundles two brushless tools, two XR batteries and a charger, which usually costs less than the same items bought individually. If you already own DeWalt 20V batteries, a bare-tool purchase may be cheaper.
Does the kit include a third bonus tool?
No. The listed contents are the hammer drill, the reciprocating saw, two 20V XR batteries and a charger. Any bonus tool mentioned in promotions is not part of this kit.
Can the hammer drill handle concrete?
Yes, in hammer mode it drives anchors into masonry and light concrete. For repeated large-diameter holes in poured concrete, a corded SDS rotary hammer is the better tool.
Are the batteries compatible with other DeWalt 20V tools?
Yes. The 20V MAX XR batteries work across DeWalt's 20V MAX cordless lineup, including drills, saws and impact drivers.
What is in the box?
The hammer drill, the reciprocating saw, two 20V MAX XR Li-ion batteries and a charger. A carrying case is not listed among the included items.
When is the price lowest?
Combo kits like this tend to drop during holiday sales and DeWalt promotional events. Check the price history chart before buying to see whether the current price is near its recent low.
