Is the DCLE34020G worth it over a cheaper red-beam laser?

If you work in bright interiors, yes. The green beam is noticeably easier to see, and the kit includes a battery, charger and TSTAK case. For dim rooms or tight budgets, a red-beam cross-line laser does the same job for less.

Does it work with my existing DeWalt batteries?

Yes. It accepts DeWalt 20V MAX and 12V MAX lithium-ion packs, so batteries from your drills and saws fit. The kit ships with one 20V MAX 2Ah battery and a charger.

How accurate is it, and how far does the beam reach?

DeWalt rates it at ±1/8 in. at 30 ft. The visible range is listed at 280 ft., which in practice means indoor use; outdoors you need a detector, which is not included.

What comes in the box?

The kit includes the laser, a 20V MAX 2Ah battery, a charger, a ceiling/wall bracket, a laser target and a TSTAK case.

Can it be used outdoors?

Only with a laser detector. The green beam is hard to see in direct sun, and no detector is in the kit.

When is the best time to buy it?

DeWalt tools see the deepest discounts around Black Friday and spring contractor promotions. At $239.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it is already the lowest of five new listings, so compare against holiday bundles before waiting.
