Is this good for a car or airplane trip?

Yes. The magnetic boards hold the pieces in place on a lap or tray table, and the set folds flat to fit in a carry bag. It suits short trips better than long ones because each puzzle has only 20 pieces.

It fits roughly ages 3 to 6. The pieces are small enough to be a choking hazard, so keep it away from kids under 3.

What comes in the box?

Three magnetic puzzle sheets, one each for unicorns, princesses and mermaids, with 20 pieces per theme. Each board measures about 7.1 x 7.1 inches.

Is it magnetic on both sides?

The puzzle sheets have a magnetic surface that holds the cardboard pieces in place. The pieces themselves are cardboard with a magnetic layer, not full magnets.

How does it compare with wooden magnetic puzzles?

It costs less and packs flatter, but the cardboard is less durable than wood and can bend or peel with rough use. Wooden sets usually last through more than one child.

When is the best time to buy it?

Prices on kids' travel toys tend to dip around back-to-school and holiday sales. Check the price history to see whether the current price is below its usual range.

Our take on the Dikence Magnetic Puzzles for Kids Girls Boys Travel Games for Toddlers Car Airplane Activities

The Dikence Magnetic Puzzles set is a travel activity for young kids: three folding magnetic puzzle boards with unicorn, princess and mermaid themes, each about 7.1 x 7.1 inches when open, with 20 cardboard pieces per theme. The magnetic backing holds pieces in place, so it works on a lap tray, car seat or airplane tray table without pieces sliding off. It is aimed at toddlers and preschoolers who are moving past simple peg puzzles. The set is a low-cost pick, so compare the current price against its usual range before buying.
