Our take on the Discount Custom Cabinets Brooklyn Slate 18" x 30" Wall Cabinet

The Discount Custom Cabinets Brooklyn Slate 18" x 30" Wall Cabinet is a single-door, preassembled wall cabinet in a transitional shaker style with a stained grey-brown finish. It uses a 1/2-inch birch plywood box, a birch hardwood face frame, and soft-close concealed hinges with six-way adjustment. The full-overlay door has a birch frame and a veneered center panel, and the interior has a natural finish. It suits a small wall run or a filler spot above a counter where a compact, ready-to-hang cabinet is needed.

Pros
  • Arrives preassembled and ready to hang
  • Soft-close, six-way adjustable concealed hinges
  • Full-overlay door gives a clean, modern line
  • 1/2-inch birch plywood box is sturdier than particleboard
  • Transitional shaker door suits many kitchen styles
Cons
  • Single 18-inch door limits interior access
  • Veneered center panel, not solid wood
  • Stained grey-brown finish may not match other cabinet lines
  • No drawer, so no soft-close glide benefit here
  • Small 18 x 30 size holds limited items

Questions and answers

Is this cabinet worth it compared with a big-box stock cabinet?
It offers a birch plywood box and soft-close hinges, which stock cabinets at similar prices often skip. If you need one matching cabinet quickly and preassembled, it is a reasonable buy. Check the finish against your existing cabinets first.
Is it really preassembled?
The listing says preassembled and ready to assemble, which is contradictory. Confirm with the seller before ordering whether the box and door arrive assembled or as a flat-pack.
Will the grey-brown finish match my kitchen?
Stained finishes vary between batches and brands, so order a sample door or check the return policy. Grey-brown reads warmer than a plain grey and can clash with cool-toned cabinets.
What are the dimensions and door swing?
It is 18 inches wide and 30 inches high with a single full-overlay door. Hinges are six-way adjustable, so you can fine-tune the door alignment after hanging.
Does it come with shelves or hardware?
The listing does not state shelf count or included handles. Ask the seller about shelves and whether a knob or pull is included before you buy.
When is the price lowest?
Cabinet prices tend to dip during kitchen and remodeling sales in spring and around major holiday promotions. Compare the current price against its recent range before ordering.
