Our take on the Donner DDP-400 88-Key Graded Hammer Action Weighted Upright Digital Piano

The Donner DDP-400 is an 88-key upright-style digital piano with graded hammer action weighted keys, three pedals and an LCD display. It adds MIDI over USB, wireless connectivity, recording, split mode and a built-in metronome, so it covers practice and basic home studio use. At $899.99 at Donner Music US as of November 5, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare it against.

Best forBeginners who want weighted keys and pedals in one purchaseHome practice without an acoustic piano's size or tuningPlayers who want recording and MIDI into a computer or appBuyers who prefer an upright cabinet look over a slab stage piano
Pros
  • Graded hammer action gives heavier bass and lighter treble keys, closer to an acoustic feel
  • Three pedals (sustain, sostenuto, soft) cover more than the single-pedal budget norm
  • USB MIDI and wireless connectivity for apps, DAWs and lessons
  • Built-in recording, split mode and metronome for self-directed practice
  • Upright cabinet with a built-in stand and pedals, ready to play
Cons
  • Only one new price listed, so there is no price history to judge whether $899.99 is a good deal
  • Weighted hammer actions at this price are usually heavier and slower than those on big-name consoles
  • Wireless and app features are less proven than the core keybed on budget brands
  • Bulky upright cabinet is harder to move or store than a foldable or slab piano

Questions and answers

Is the DDP-400 good for a beginner?
Yes. It has 88 weighted graded keys, three pedals and a metronome, which is the setup most teachers expect. A beginner will not outgrow the key count or pedals quickly.
Does it have weighted keys like an acoustic piano?
It has graded hammer action weighted keys: heavier in the low register, lighter in the high, like an acoustic upright. The feel is not identical to a premium console piano, but it is far closer than a synth-action keyboard.
Can I connect it to a computer or app?
Yes. It supports USB MIDI and wireless connectivity, so it can drive a DAW, piano app or virtual instrument. You also get onboard recording if you do not want to use a computer.
What is included in the box?
The piano comes with its upright cabinet, built-in stand and the three pedals (sustain, sostenuto, soft). Check the listing for a bench and power adapter, since bundles vary.
Is $899.99 a good price?
As of November 5, 2026, $899.99 at Donner Music US is the only new price listed, so there is no lower recent price to compare against. That is typical pricing for an 88-key weighted console piano with three pedals.
How does it compare with a Yamaha or Roland console piano?
It costs less than most big-name 88-key consoles and includes three pedals, MIDI and recording. The trade-off is a less refined key action and weaker long-term resale value than Yamaha or Roland models.
Where is the Donner DDP-400 88-Key Graded Hammer Action Weighted Upright Digital Piano cheapest?
At Donner Music US, for $899.99, as of our latest check.
