The Dovanpaul Outdoor Waterproof Ceiling Fan with Light is a 52-inch, three-blade fan built for covered patios, porches and gazebos. It combines a light, a plug-in cord and both remote and app control, so it needs no hardwiring or wall switch. The waterproof housing suits damp outdoor spots, though it is not rated for direct rain. Questions and answers

Is it worth it over a hardwired outdoor fan?
If you lack a ceiling junction box or want to avoid an electrician, the plug-in design is the main draw. A hardwired fan costs less to buy but adds install cost.
Can it get wet in the rain?
It is described as waterproof for outdoor use, but plug-in fans of this type are meant for covered areas. Keep it out of direct rain and standing water.
Does it work with a wall switch?
Control is through the included remote and the app. There is no pull chain mentioned, so plan on keeping the remote handy.
What size space does a 52-inch fan cover?
A 52-inch fan suits rooms roughly 12 by 12 feet up to about 18 by 20 feet. Larger patios may need two fans.
What is in the box?
Expect the fan, light, mounting hardware, plug-in cord and remote. The app is a free download.
When is it cheapest?
Outdoor fans usually dip during spring patio sales and end-of-summer clearance. Check the price history before buying.
