Are these good work pants for a job site?

Yes. The Fire Hose canvas and gusseted crotch are made for kneeling, climbing and abrasion. They are heavier and warmer than lightweight synthetic work pants.

How does the Flex version compare to standard Fire Hose pants?

The Flex adds spandex stretch and a flex waistband, so they move more easily than the original rigid Fire Hose canvas. Durability is similar.

Do they run true to size?

Most buyers say they fit true to size, but some report differences between colors. Check the retailer's size chart and return policy before ordering.

Are the cargo pockets big enough for a phone and tools?

Yes. The Payload pockets are sized for a smartphone, tape measure and small hand tools. Loading them heavily makes the pants look bulky.

When is the best time to buy them?

Duluth Trading runs frequent sales and clearance events, and prices swing widely across retailers. Compare current listings against the brand's usual sale price before buying.

Our take on the Duluth Trading Men's Flex Fire Hose Payload Cargo Pants

These are Duluth Trading's work cargo pants, built from the company's Fire Hose cotton-spandex canvas with a gusseted crotch and a flex waistband. The Payload version adds extra cargo pockets for tools and gear. They are aimed at tradespeople and heavy-duty everyday wear rather than office use. Pricing varies by retailer and sale cycle, so compare current listings against the brand's typical sale prices before buying.
