Is the high crown too tall for an average head?

The high, structured crown is the point of this hat. It suits larger heads and fuller faces well, but shoppers with smaller heads often find it looks tall and boxy. If you are between sizes, the M/L with the leather strap cinched down is the safer pick.

How does Fire Hose canvas compare to a normal cotton cap?

Fire Hose canvas is much heavier at 11.5 oz, so the cap is stiffer, holds its shape and resists abrasion better than a soft cotton twill cap. The trade-off is weight and warmth. It is a work cap first.

Can I machine wash it?

Yes, the canvas is machine washable. Wash cold and air dry to protect the leather strap and keep the crown from warping. The quick-dry sweatband means it dries fast after sweat or a wash.

What sizes are available and how do I choose?

It comes in M/L and XL/2XL with an adjustable leather strap. Measure your head circumference and pick XL/2XL if you normally wear a large or XL fitted cap. The strap gives some slack either way.

Our take on the Duluth Trading Rigid Fire Hose High Crown Hat

This is Duluth Trading's baseball cap cut from the same 11.5-oz Fire Hose canvas the brand uses in its workwear, with a structured high crown, embroidered logo and an adjustable leather strap. A wicking, quick-dry sweatband and machine-washable canvas make it a practical work cap rather than a fashion piece. It comes in M/L and XL/2XL, so bigger heads get a real fit option.
