Is the Dynaudio Confidence 20 worth $20,000?

If you want a compact speaker with top-tier treble and imaging and already own quality amplification, yes. If you want deep bass or maximum value per dollar, a floorstander at this price will give you more low end.

Do I need stands for the Confidence 20?

Yes in practice. It is a bookshelf model with no built-in stand, and Dynaudio's matching stand is sold separately. Putting it on a shelf or desk will compromise the sound.

How much amplifier power does it need?

Dynaudio rates it up to 400 W, and it benefits from a high-current amp. A good 100–200 W solid-state integrated is a sensible starting point in most rooms.

How does it compare with the Confidence 30 floorstander?

The Confidence 30 adds a dedicated midrange driver and deeper bass in a floorstanding cabinet. The 20 gives up low-end extension and some scale but keeps the same tweeter family in a smaller, stand-mount package.

The pair of speakers, grilles and documentation. Stands, cables and amplification are not included.

When is the best time to buy?

There is only one new listing at $20,000 as of November 4, 2026, so there is no seasonal pattern to exploit. Watch for dealer demo or open-box units if you want a lower price.

Our take on the Dynaudio Confidence 20 Bookshelf Speakers

The Dynaudio Confidence 20 is a two-way stand-mount speaker from Dynaudio's top-tier Confidence line, built around a 28mm Esotar3 soft-dome tweeter and a 17cm NeoTec woofer in a heavily braced cabinet. It is a low-volume, high-price product aimed at dedicated two-channel listeners with serious amplification. The best new price is $20,000 at AudioVision San Francisco as of November 4, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no meaningful discount to wait for. Stands are sold separately, which adds cost to a speaker at this level.
