Is the Dyson Pure Cool Tower worth it at $159?

At $159 at Distritech as of November 3, it is a strong value for a HEPA purifier and fan in one. Factor in replacement filter costs over the years you own it.

Does it work with a phone app?

No. This version is not Wi-Fi compatible and has no app. You control it with the included remote, the onboard buttons, or Amazon Alexa.

How often do I replace the filter?

Dyson rates the combined HEPA and carbon filter for about a year of typical use. Replace it sooner if you run it constantly or notice odors and reduced airflow.

It runs at 33.8 dB on low, close to a whisper, and 56.9 dB at top speed, roughly normal conversation. Sleep mode keeps it near the quiet end.

What rooms does it suit?

It is best for bedrooms, offices, and small living rooms. The pollen CADR of 72.8 is modest, so very large open spaces may need more than one unit.

The tower unit, a remote control, and the installed HEPA and activated carbon filter. A power supply is included.

Our take on the Dyson Pure Cool Tower Purifier Fan

The Dyson Pure Cool Tower is a combined HEPA purifier and bladeless fan in a slim 40-inch tower that weighs 8.4 lb and sits just 4.3 inches deep. It pulls air through a HEPA and activated carbon filter, then pushes it out through the loop, so it cleans and cools a whole room at once. It has auto mode, a sleep timer, a remote, and Alexa voice control, but no Wi-Fi app control. The latest best price is $159 at Distritech as of November 3, well below what this model has typically sold for.
