Does the Gurtha bed need a box spring?

No. It ships with slats, so a mattress sits directly on the frame. A box spring would raise the mattress higher than intended.

What mattress size fits the Full/Double Gurtha?

A standard Full or Double mattress, 54 by 75 inches. Check the mattress depth if you use a thick pillow-top.

Is the metal frame sturdy enough for adults?

It is a metal platform frame meant for everyday adult use, and most owners report it holds up well. Heavier sleepers should check the listed weight capacity before buying.

How hard is assembly?

Most buyers assemble it in under an hour with two people. The instructions are basic, so sort the hardware first and tighten bolts after the frame is squared.

Does it come with a headboard?

No. The Gurtha is a headboard-free platform frame, so you would add a separate headboard or place the bed against a wall.

Our take on the Ebern Designs Gurtha Standard Bed

The Ebern Designs Gurtha is a metal platform bed with a slatted base, so it needs no box spring. The Full/Double size fits a standard double mattress and suits guest rooms, teen rooms and small primary bedrooms. Its metal frame is the main draw: it is usually priced well below upholstered or solid-wood beds of the same size. Shoppers rate it 4.6 out of 5 across 664 ratings.
