Our take on the Electric Rental

A daily rental of an electric bike built around a Bosch motor and battery, with front and rear lights, fenders and a rear rack included. Renters pick a frame style: step-thru for the easiest mount and dismount, low-step for easier mounting with more support, or high-step diamond frame. Sizing runs from X-Small for riders around 4'10"–5'1" upward, based on height, so inseam may shift your size. Exact frame and components vary between bikes, but the shop says all perform nearly the same.

Best forRiders who want to try an e-bike before buying
Tourists and visitors without their own bike
Commutes and errands where a rack and lights matter
Smaller riders who want a step-thru frame
Pros
  • Bosch motor and battery on every rental
  • Lights, fenders and a rack included, so it is ready for weather and cargo
  • Three frame styles cover a wide range of riders
  • Height-based size chart makes picking a size simple
  • No purchase or long-term commitment
Cons
  • You do not keep the bike; it is a rental, not a sale
  • Frame and components vary, so you cannot count on a specific model
  • Sizing is estimated from height only; inseam can change the fit
  • Battery range and charge level are not stated
  • No price, rental period or deposit is shown here

About the Electric Rental

All our electric bike rentals use a Bosch motor and battery system with built in front and rear lights, fenders, and a rack. Each bike will vary slightly with frame style and components, but will all perform nearly identical. The step-thru frame will be the lowest step for smaller riders wanting the easiest bike to get on and off. The low-step frame is more traditional for riders looking for a bike easy to get on and off but with additional support. The high-step frame is your traditional diamond frame with a top tube as added support (See photos for reference).

Questions and answers

Is renting an e-bike worth it versus buying one?
For a few days of riding, a rental costs far less than a Bosch-equipped e-bike, which typically runs well over $1,500 new. Rent if you want to test the feel of pedal assist before committing.
Which frame style should I choose?
Pick step-thru if you are short or want the easiest mount and dismount. Choose low-step for easier mounting with extra frame support, and high-step if you prefer a traditional diamond frame.
How do I know my size?
Use the height chart: X-Small starts around 4'10"–5'1". Because sizing ignores inseam, tell the shop your inseam if you are near a boundary.
What comes with the bike?
Every rental includes a Bosch motor and battery, front and rear lights, fenders and a rear rack. Frame style and other components vary by bike.
How far can I ride on one charge?
Range depends on the battery fitted to your bike, assist level and terrain, and is not listed. Ask the shop for the battery capacity and expected range when you pick up.
Where can I buy the Electric Rental?
2 stores we checked sell it, including Ride1Up, North Star Sports.
