Yes if you host buffets a few times a year and want an inexpensive way to keep food warm. Skip it if you need to cook or reheat food, since it only holds temperature.

Does it cook or reheat food?

No. It is a warming server, so food should go in already hot. Putting cold food in will leave it in the unsafe temperature range for too long.

How many dishes can it hold?

It has three stainless steel food pans under one 7.5-quart total capacity, so you can serve three separate dishes at once.

Can I put the pans in the dishwasher?

The stainless steel pans and lids are removable and generally hand-wash or dishwasher safe. Wipe the base with a damp cloth and never submerge the electric unit.

What comes in the box?

The warming base, three stainless steel food pans, matching lids and the power cord. Chafing fuel and serving utensils are not included.

Prices on this model run low year-round and tend to dip around holiday and party-season sales in late fall. Check the price history before buying.

Our take on the Elite Gourmet EWM-6171 Buffet Server

The Elite Gourmet EWM-6171 is a 7.5-quart electric buffet server: a stainless steel warming tray with three removable food pans and lids, plus an adjustable thermostat. It keeps food hot without a chafing fuel, so it suits buffets, parties and holiday meals. It is a budget-tier warming appliance rather than a cooker, and its price has stayed low and steady across listings.
