Is the Ember Cup worth it?

If you drink espresso or cortado and want it hot to the last sip, yes. If you drink full mugs of coffee, the 6 oz capacity will frustrate you.

How does it compare with the larger Ember Mug?

The Ember Mug holds 10 or 14 oz and has longer battery life. The Cup is smaller and cheaper, but you trade capacity and runtime.

How long does the battery last?

Ember rates the Cup for roughly an hour to an hour and a half at a moderate temperature. Expect less at higher settings.

Is it dishwasher safe?

No. Ember says the Cup is hand wash only; the electronics are in the base.

Can I use it without the app?

Yes. It has an on-mug control for a default temperature, but the app is needed to set a custom one.

Our take on the Ember Cup (6 oz)

The Ember Cup is a 6 oz stainless steel mug that keeps coffee or tea at a set temperature through a built-in battery and app controls. It is the smaller, travel-friendly sibling of Ember's larger mugs, sized for a single espresso or cortado rather than a full brew. At $42.99 at Amazon as of November 8, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range across the four stores that carry it new.
