Is the Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy worth it?

Yes for players who want a Les Paul with modern metal tones. The Fishman Fluence pickups, locking tuners and gig bag make $799 at Dave's Guitar Shop a fair package as of November 4, 2026.

How does it differ from a standard Epiphone Les Paul?

The Prophecy adds active Fishman Fluence pickups with three voices, an ebony board, jumbo frets, an asymmetrical SlimTaper neck, locking Grover tuners and weight relief. A standard Les Paul uses passive humbuckers and a rosewood board.

Do the Fishman pickups need a battery?

Yes. The active Fluence system runs on a 9V battery, so you need to check or replace it regularly. The push/pull pots switch between vintage, modern and single-coil voices.

What is included in the box?

The guitar comes with a premium gig bag. No hard case or tools are listed beyond that.

Is it good for drop tunings?

Yes. The 24.72-inch scale, locking tuners and hot modern pickup voice suit drop tunings and heavy rhythm work. You may want heavier strings for very low tunings.

When is the best time to buy it?

Watch for holiday and back-to-school sales. The current best new price is $799 at Dave's Guitar Shop as of November 4, 2026, with four stores listing it new.
