Is the Eureka PowerSpeed NEU280 worth it?

Yes if you want an inexpensive, light upright for carpet and pet hair. It cleans well for the price, but it is loud and its filtration is basic, so it is not the pick for allergy-focused homes.

Does it work on hard floors?

Yes. It is rated for carpet and hard floor, and the 12-inch width covers hard floors quickly. On bare floors, watch for scattering of light debris near the edges.

Eureka rates it at 88 dB, which is loud enough to make conversation difficult in the same room. Plan to vacuum when others are not sleeping or on calls.

What comes in the box?

The vacuum, a detachable handle, a 7-foot hose and basic on-board tools for crevices and upholstery. It does not include bags because it is bagless.

Does it have HEPA filtration?

No. It uses foam filtration, which is not sealed HEPA. If you have asthma or serious allergies, a sealed HEPA upright is a better fit.

Budget uprights like this one tend to drop during back-to-school and Black Friday sales and during spring cleaning promotions. Check the price history before buying outside those windows.

Our take on the Eureka PowerSpeed NEU280

The Eureka PowerSpeed NEU280 is a corded, bagless upright vacuum built for homes with pets. It weighs 10 lbs, has a 12-inch cleaning width and a 25-foot cord, and converts to a 7-foot hose with a detachable handle for stairs and above-floor cleaning. It is a budget upright, so expect strong suction for the money and basic filtration rather than sealed HEPA. It is a frequent pick for first-time buyers and pet owners who want an inexpensive second vacuum.
