Is the Eurostar ICF19WB worth it?

It is a basic analog radio with weather band, so it makes sense if you want a cheap backup for storms or a simple AM/FM set. If you want presets, a clock or rechargeable power, a digital weather radio is a better fit.

Does it need batteries to work?

No. It runs on AC power or on two D batteries, so you can use it plugged in at home and switch to batteries during an outage. Batteries are not included.

Does it receive NOAA weather alerts?

It tunes the weather band (WB) for NOAA broadcasts. It is an analog radio, so it plays the alert audio but does not have a digital alert tone or automatic alarm feature.

How long do two D batteries last?

Eurostar does not publish a runtime figure. Alkaline D cells typically last a long time at low volume, but expect shorter life at high volume or with the speaker on constantly.

Can I use headphones with it?

Yes. It has a single 3.5 mm headphone output, so plugging in headphones mutes the built-in speaker for private listening.

When is the price lowest?

Weather radios usually drop in price before and during hurricane and tornado season, and again around holiday sales. Check the price history before buying.
