Our take on the Eversolo DMP-A8 Network Streamer

The Eversolo DMP-A8 is a network streamer, DAC and preamp in one chassis, built around a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 processor and a 6-inch color touchscreen. It plays DSD512 and PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit, decodes MQA, and supports Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, Roon and DLNA/UPnP over Ethernet, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth 5.0. It also takes coaxial, optical, USB and HDMI inputs and outputs bit-perfect audio over USB, optical, coaxial and HDMI. At $1,683 at Upscale Audio as of November 3, 2026, it sits near the top of its recent range, so this is not a bargain moment.

Best forStreamer-DAC-preamp buyers who want one box instead of threeRoon and Tidal/Qobuz users with large local librariesListeners who feed powered speakers or a power amp directlyBuyers who want a touchscreen and VU meters on the rack

Pros

Streamer, DAC and preamp in one unit, cutting box count and cabling
DSD512 native and PCM 768kHz/32-bit support with full MQA decoding
6-inch touchscreen plus remote and customizable VU meters
Wide input set: coaxial, optical, USB, HDMI and Bluetooth 5.0
Roon Ready and DLNA/UPnP for local libraries and network playback

Cons

$1,683 is at the high end of its recent price range
Spotify is the only streaming service named in the listed specs; Tidal and Qobuz rely on the wider app support
No built-in power amplification, so it needs powered speakers or a separate amp
4TB capacity is local storage, not a streaming subscription or library

Questions and answers

Is the DMP-A8 worth $1,683?: If you need a streamer, DAC and preamp in one box and use Roon, Tidal or Qobuz, it replaces several components and is easy to justify. If you already own a good DAC and preamp, the gain is smaller.
How does it compare with the DMP-A6?: The A8 adds a preamp section, more inputs including HDMI, and a higher-grade DAC stage over the A6. The A6 is the cheaper pick if you only need streaming and DAC duties.
Does it have a headphone output?: No dedicated headphone jack is listed. You would feed a separate headphone amp from its analog outputs.
What is in the box?: The unit, a remote control and the usual power and antenna accessories. Cables for analog or digital connections are generally not included.
When is it cheapest?: The best new price was $1,683 at Upscale Audio as of November 3, 2026, near the top of its recent range. Watch for holiday and open-box sales if you can wait.
Can it drive passive speakers directly?: No. It is a preamp, so it needs powered speakers or a separate power amplifier.
Where is the Eversolo DMP-A8 Network Streamer cheapest?: At Upscale Audio, for $1,683.00, 15% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
