Our take on the Excalibur 6 Tray Select Digital Dehydrator

The Excalibur 6 Tray Select is a countertop dehydrator with six chrome trays, 9.6 square feet of drying space and a 1400-watt heating element. Its digital panel sets temperature from 85°F to 165°F and a timer up to 60 hours, with automatic shutoff. Excalibur's horizontal Parallex airflow pushes air across the trays rather than up through them, so you don't rotate trays. At $136.95 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of what the 8 stores listing it new charge.

Pros
  • Six trays give 9.6 square feet of drying area
  • Wide 85°F to 165°F range covers jerky and delicate herbs
  • 60-hour timer with automatic shutoff
  • Horizontal airflow means no tray rotation
  • Stainless-steel housing and chrome trays wipe clean

Cons
  • Large footprint at 17.3 by 20.7 inches on the counter
  • Weighs about 23.6 pounds, so it's awkward to store

  • No clear window, so you open the door to check progress
  • 1400 watts draws real power over long runs

Questions and answers

Is the Excalibur 6 Tray Select worth it over the 4 tray model?
If you dry in batches, yes. Two extra trays add about 3.2 square feet and let you run one load instead of two. For occasional small jobs, the 4 tray version saves counter space and money.
How is it different from the Excalibur 9 tray?
Same horizontal airflow and digital controls, but the 9 tray holds 15 square feet and is much larger. The 6 tray fits more kitchens and weighs about 23.6 pounds versus the bigger unit's heavier frame.
What temperature should I use for jerky?
Jerky typically runs at 155°F to 165°F, near the top of this unit's range. Herbs and fruit leather do better at 105°F to 135°F.
What comes in the box?
Six chrome trays, a digital book and the "Preserve it Naturally" guide. No mesh sheets or fruit leather trays are listed, so buy those separately if you plan on small pieces or purees.
Can the trays go in the dishwasher?
The trays are listed as dishwasher safe parts, but hand washing keeps the chrome finish longer. Wipe the stainless housing clean; don't immerse it.
When is it cheapest?
The best new price was $136.95 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, against 8 stores selling it new. Harvest-season and holiday sales are when dehydrators usually dip.
Where is the Excalibur 6 Tray Select Digital Dehydrator cheapest?
At eBay, for $136.95, 25% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Excalibur 6 Tray Select Digital Dehydrator?
Rated 4.7 out of 5 from 56 ratings.
