Is the Fellow Opus worth it over a cheaper burr grinder?

Yes if you want one grinder for espresso and filter coffee with low retention. Budget grinders often struggle to dial in espresso or leave more grounds stuck inside.

Can the Opus grind for espresso?

Yes. It reaches espresso fineness, but the 41+ settings are stepped, so fine tuning is coarser than on a stepless grinder.

How much coffee does the hopper hold?

110 g, about enough for a few single doses or one small batch brew. It suits single-dose use better than filling for the week.

Does it have a timer?

Yes. It has timed autostop so you can set a dose and walk away.

Our take on the Fellow Opus All-Purpose Coffee Grinder

The Fellow Opus is an all-purpose conical burr grinder built for filter coffee, espresso, and everything between. It runs a 350 RPM stainless steel burr set with 41+ stepped settings, a 110 g hopper, timed autostop, and anti-static technology to cut mess. Its plastic body keeps it light at 4 lb and compact on a counter. The best new price is $200 at San Diego Coffee Training Institute as of November 4, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is little price competition to shop around.
