Is Fels-Naptha safe for all fabrics?

It is fine for cotton, denim and most sturdy fabrics. Avoid it on wool, silk and anything labeled dry-clean only, since the soap can be harsh on delicate fibers.

How do I use the bar on a stain?

Wet the stained area, rub the bar over the stain until it lathers, then wash as usual. For heavy stains, let it sit a few minutes before washing.

Can I use it in a washing machine?

Yes. Grate a small amount into the drum with your regular detergent as a booster. Do not put the whole bar in the machine.

How long does one bar last?

With occasional pre-treating, a 5 oz bar typically lasts several months. Heavy use on large stains will wear it down faster.

Is $1.99 a good price?

Yes. At $1.99 at Blain's Farm & Fleet as of November 7, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, and only two stores list it new.

Does it work as a hand-washing soap?

Yes. It can replace specialty hand-wash detergents for small loads of sturdy fabrics.
