Our take on the FloraCraft Sheet Styrofoam 12 x 36

This is a single 2-inch-thick white Styrofoam sheet measuring 12 by 36 inches, made by FloraCraft in the US from recycled plastic. The thickness is the point: it holds shape for carving, stacked displays and large party props that thinner sheets sag under. It is a craft blank, not a finished decoration, and it takes paint and pins but not much handling. The best new price is $35.15 at Zoro as of November 4, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no meaningful price range to compare against.

Pros
  • 2-inch thickness holds shape better than thin sheets
  • Large 12 x 36 inch face covers big projects in one piece
  • Made with recycled plastic and listed as allergen-free
  • Cuts, sands and paints like standard Styrofoam
  • US-made and widely available in craft stores
Cons
  • Single sheet only, so large builds need several
  • Crumbles into beads when cut with a dull blade
  • Styrofoam is not biodegradable and is banned in some places
  • Paint must be water-based; solvents melt the foam
  • Bulky to ship, which pushes the price up

Questions and answers

Is the 2-inch thickness worth it over 1-inch foam?
Yes if the piece has to stand, hold pins or be carved. One-inch sheet flexes and snaps on tall props; 2-inch keeps its shape. For flat signs and small ornaments, thinner sheet is cheaper and easier to cut.
What paint works on this Styrofoam sheet?
Use water-based acrylic or craft paint. Solvent-based sprays and lacquers eat into the foam and leave pits. Sealing with a water-based primer first helps paint stick and cuts bead shedding.
How do I cut a 2-inch Styrofoam sheet cleanly?
A hot wire cutter gives the smoothest edge. Otherwise use a long serrated knife with light pressure, or a fine-tooth saw, and expect some crumbs. Cut outside or over a drop cloth.
What is in the box?
One white Styrofoam sheet, 2 x 12 x 36 inches. No cutter, adhesive or mounting hardware is included.
When is the price lowest?
Craft foam tends to dip during back-to-school and pre-holiday sales. With only one store listing it new at $35.15 as of November 4, 2026, watch for a second seller before waiting on a discount.
Where is the FloraCraft Sheet Styrofoam 12 x 36 cheapest?
