Is 10 mm glass worth it over 8 mm?

Yes, if the wall can carry it. Ten millimeter glass feels stiffer and less wavy than 8 mm, but it weighs noticeably more, so plan for two installers and solid hinge-side framing.

Will this fit a 40-inch opening?

The door is listed at 40 inches wide and 72 inches tall. Measure the finished opening, not the rough stud space, and allow for hinge and clearance gaps before ordering.

Does it need a frame or track?

No. It is frameless and hinged, so it mounts to the wall and a fixed panel or wall jamb rather than a track. That also means you supply the seal or sweep if you want one.

What is included in the box?

Expect the glass door, chrome hinges and mounting hardware. A handle and any seals vary by seller, so confirm the contents with the store before buying.

Only one new price is listed: $495.85 at Lowe's as of November 7, 2026. With a single seller there is no discount pattern to time, so compare against other 40-inch frameless doors instead.

Our take on the Forclover Chrome Frameless Hinged Shower Door

The Forclover Frameless Hinged Shower Door is a 40-inch-wide, 72-inch-tall swing door made of 10 mm clear tempered glass with chrome hinges and hardware. Frameless construction and thick glass give it a clean, custom-shower look without a metal frame to wipe down. At $495.85 at Lowe's as of November 7, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare it against.

Pros

10 mm glass is thicker than the 6–8 mm common on budget doors
Frameless design is easy to squeegee and keeps sightlines open
Chrome hardware suits most faucet and fixture finishes
Swing door gives a wide, unobstructed opening
Clear glass makes a small bathroom feel larger

Cons

A hinged door needs solid framing or blocking behind the hinge wall
10 mm glass is heavy, so two people are needed to hang it
Clear glass shows water spots and soap film quickly
No frame means no built-in water seal; a sweep or seal may be needed
Only one store lists a new price, so there is little price competition
