Our take on the Foreo LUNA Play Smart 2

The Foreo LUNA Play Smart 2 is a small, app-connected silicone facial cleansing brush that pairs sonic pulsations with a skin-analysis routine in the Foreo app. The app reads your skin through the phone camera and builds a customized cleansing program, and the 2-zone brush head splits into finer and broader touchpoints for different areas of the face. It is rechargeable and wireless, so there is no cord during use. It sits at the entry level of Foreo's LUNA line, below the full-size LUNA devices.

Pros
  • App skin analysis tailors the cleansing routine
  • Sonic vibration cleans without scrubbing

  • Small and handheld, easy to pack
  • Rechargeable, so no disposable batteries to swap
Cons
  • Skin analysis depends on your phone camera and lighting
  • App connection is required for the customization features
  • Small size means a smaller cleaning surface than full-size LUNA brushes
  • No heated massage or microneedling
  • Silicone bristles suit cleansing, not exfoliation scrubs

Questions and answers

Is the LUNA Play Smart 2 worth it over a manual cleanser?
If you want a guided routine and gentle sonic cleansing, yes. If you just want a basic silicone scrubber, a cheaper manual brush does most of the same job.
How is it different from the full-size LUNA brushes?
It is smaller and relies on the app for skin analysis and custom routines. Full-size LUNA devices have larger brush surfaces and more built-in modes.
Do I need the app to use it?
You can run basic cleansing without it, but the skin analysis and customized programs live in the Foreo app. Pairing over Bluetooth is required for those features.
How often should I use it?
Most owners use it once daily, and Foreo's app routine sets a schedule. Cut back if your skin feels tight or irritated.
Is it waterproof and safe in the shower?
Yes, the silicone body is designed for wet use and rinsing under the tap. Dry the charging port before recharging.
What comes in the box?
The device and a charging cable. There are no extra brush heads included, since the 2-zone head is built in.
