Is the Formovie Theater Premium worth it?

For a large image in a room where a long-throw projector won't fit, yes. Budget for a UST screen as well, since that is where much of the picture quality comes from.

How does it compare with the original Formovie Theater?

The Premium is the newer model with a brighter 2,200-lumen rating and updated processing. It is an evolution rather than a reinvention, so owners of the original have little reason to upgrade.

How bright is it, and does it work in daylight?

It is rated at 2,200 lumens. That is fine for a dim room and light-controlled daytime viewing, but direct sunlight will wash the image out.

What size image can it throw?

It is designed for roughly 80 to 150 inches depending on how far it sits from the wall. Most buyers aim for around 100 to 120 inches.

Expect the projector, a power cable and a remote. A screen, stand and any cables for external devices are sold separately.

Projector prices tend to dip around major sales events and at model changeovers. Watch the price history rather than buying on impulse.

Our take on the Formovie Theater Premium

The Formovie Theater Premium is a 4K ultra short throw projector built to sit inches from a wall and cast a 100-inch-plus image. It uses a triple-laser light source with 2,200 lumens and runs Google TV, so streaming apps are built in. It is aimed at people replacing a TV in a bright living room, and its price has held fairly steady rather than swinging widely.
