Is the Franklin Signature Pro good for beginners?

Yes. The soft 13mm core and 7.5 oz weight make it forgiving and easy to control, which suits newer players learning placement.

Does the soft core mean less power?

Yes. A 13mm soft polypropylene core favors touch and control, so drives and serves will have less pop than on a thinner, harder paddle.

At 7.5 oz it sits in the middle of the typical 7 to 8.5 oz range, so it should feel balanced for most adults.
