Best forFamilies who want one matched set for checked bagsFrequent flyers who pack heavy and need expansionTravelers who prefer hard shells over soft fabricBuyers equipping a household in one purchase
Pros
  • Three sizes cover a weekend trip up to a long checked-bag haul
  • Each case expands up to 2 inches for extra packing capacity
  • Eight spinner wheels per case make it easy to roll upright
  • Hard ABS shell resists scuffs and light rain better than fabric
  • Compression straps and an accessory pocket keep contents organized
Cons
  • 24.9 lbs empty for the set adds up fast against airline weight limits
  • ABS is the least durable hard-shell plastic; it can crack under rough handling
  • Push-button recessed handle is not a TSA lock
  • Largest case is rated to 75 lbs packed, so it is easy to overload
  • No soft-side exterior pockets for quick-access items

Questions and answers

Is the French Connection luggage set worth $252?
At $252 at Belk as of November 6, 2026, you get three expandable hard-shell cases, which is competitive for a matched set. The trade-off is ABS construction, which is less tough than polycarbonate or aluminum.
Does the set include a carry-on size?
Yes. The 22-inch upright is the carry-on, with 26 and 30-inch cases for checked luggage. Check your airline's carry-on limits, since the 22-inch figure is the case height.
Do the suitcases expand?
Yes. Each case expands by up to 2 inches of depth, adding packing capacity on the return trip. Expanded cases may exceed carry-on size limits.
Do the bags have a built-in lock?
No. The push-button recessed handle is a locking handle, not a TSA combination lock. You would need a separate TSA-approved luggage lock for checked bags.
How much does the set weigh?
The three cases weigh 24.9 lbs empty in total, so the largest case alone eats into checked-bag weight allowances. The largest bag is rated for up to 75 lbs packed.
What is the warranty?
French Connection does not publish a clear multi-year warranty for this set, so confirm coverage with the seller before buying. ABS shells are more prone to cracking than polycarbonate.
Where is the French Connection 3-Piece Wing-On Expandable Rolling Luggage Set cheapest?
At Belk, for $252.00, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the French Connection 3-Piece Wing-On Expandable Rolling Luggage Set?
