Our take on the Freshdew Mini Projector FHD 1080p Bluetooth Home Theater Movie Projector

The Freshdew Mini Projector is a small LCD home-theater projector with a native 1280 x 720 image that accepts 1080p input, plus HDMI, USB and Bluetooth. Its 200-lumen lamp suits dark rooms and screens up to roughly 80 inches, not daylight viewing. It is a budget, entry-level projector, so expect softness on a large screen and modest built-in sound. • Native 720p with 1080p input support
  • HDMI, USB and Bluetooth cover most sources
  • Bluetooth lets you pair a speaker or soundbar
  • Simple setup: place it, focus it, plug in a source
Cons
  • 200 lumens needs a dark room; daylight washes it out

Questions and answers

Is 200 lumens enough?
Only in a dark room. With curtains closed it is watchable at 60 to 80 inches; with lamps on or daylight, the image looks washed out.
Is it really 1080p?
No. The panel is native 1280 x 720; it accepts 1080p signals and scales them down. Expect 720p sharpness, not full HD.
What do I need to stream Netflix or YouTube?
A streaming stick, console or laptop plugged into the HDMI port, since the projector has no apps of its own. Bluetooth handles audio to a speaker.
How big a screen can it make?
Roughly 80 inches is the practical limit before the picture gets soft and dim. A 50 to 70 inch image in a dark room looks best.
Does it have a battery?
No. It runs on AC power, so keep it near an outlet or bring an extension cord for outdoor use.
When is it cheapest?
Budget mini projectors usually dip during Black Friday, Prime Day and back-to-school sales. Check the price history chart before buying.
