Is the UHD2 73cv worth it over the older 73cv?

Yes for most buyers. The UHD2 adds a brighter, higher-contrast screen and faster processor, and the price gap is usually small. The sonar and mapping basics are the same.

Does it come with a transducer?

Yes. The box includes the GT20-TM transom-mount transducer for CHIRP traditional and ClearVü down-view sonar. You need to supply your own power cable and fuse.

Can I use it for saltwater or offshore fishing?

Not out of the box. It has US inland lake maps built in, so coastal and offshore use needs a separate BlueChart g3 card. The sonar itself works in saltwater.

Does it have side-view sonar?

No. The 73cv offers traditional CHIRP and ClearVü down-view only. SideVü requires a step up to a UHD2 sv model.

The $649.99 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026 is already near the low end of its recent range. Watch for spring boating-season sales and bundle deals with transducers.
