Our take on the Ghost Controls 5988670

The Ghost Controls 5988670 is a safety sensor accessory for Ghost Controls automatic gate openers, sold as a pair of black photo-eye units. Each unit measures about 16 inches wide and 5.5 inches deep, and the pair mounts on either side of the gate opening to detect obstructions and stop or reverse the gate. At $179 at Lowe's as of November 7, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range, so it is not a bargain moment for this part.

Questions and answers

Is the Ghost Controls 5988670 worth $179?
It is a fair price only if you need a matched safety sensor for a Ghost Controls opener. The $179 at Lowe's as of November 7, 2026 is at the high end of its recent range, so waiting for a dip makes sense if the gate is not in use yet.
Will it work with my gate opener?
It is built for Ghost Controls automatic gate operators. Check that your opener is a Ghost Controls model before buying, since the wiring and connectors are made for that system.
What is in the box?
The listing describes the 5988670 as a sensor set, meaning the photo-eye units that mount on each side of the gate. Mounting hardware and wiring should be confirmed with the store before ordering.
How far apart can the two sensors be?
The listing does not publish a maximum beam distance. Measure your gate opening and confirm the rated range with Ghost Controls or the store before you buy.
Can I install it myself?
Yes, if you are comfortable running low-voltage wire between the two units and back to the opener. Plan the wire route along the gate posts before mounting anything.
Where is the Ghost Controls 5988670 cheapest?
At Lowe's, for $179.00, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Ghost Controls 5988670?
3 stores we checked sell it, including Lowe's, The Home Depot, Tractor Supply Co.
